The colour of the season when it comes to eye make-up? Purple - whether pretty lilac as at Derek Lam or the deep, smoky grape hue seen at Vera Wang. At Matthew Williamson it was more of a Seventies violet, whilst icy lavender offset the sheer coral lips at Sally Lapointe. We're in a purple haze.

This season the perfect finishing touch to the beauty looks was a flash of gold or silver. Piercings had their moment at Rodarte thanks to the hoop-studded brows, whilst gold lip rings were drawn on with liner at Dries Van Noten. At Céline we saw some of the most coveted accessories of the season - metal circle barrettes worn at the back of the head - whilst tiny golden shells and starfish adorned the romantic hairstyles at Valentino.
